On Saturday April 9, to mark his comeback on the show, Jake Gyllenhaal offered viewers a moment worthy of his reputation: a hilarious and totally offbeat interpretation of Celine Dion's cult song,

The interpreter of Jack Twist in
The Secret of Brokeback Mountain
began his monologue by explaining that after 15 years, he was sure that the legendary show “SNL” would never call him back.
“I'm so excited to be back.
The last time I came was 2007. To give you an idea of how long that was, that was 400 Marvel movies ago,” he joked.
A time when "there were still jokes about George W. Bush and the first iPhone."
And to continue: “You know, it's funny.
I had a reputation for being this serious, intense actor, but honestly, I wasn't even that good at acting in the Actor's Studio… I went for it because I thought that was the thing to do to be considered a believable actor – and I kind of forgot to have fun.”

Following which, Jake Gyllenhaal was joined on stage by three singers before starting the first notes of
It's All Coming Back to Me Now.
Microphone in hand, mimicking his own interpretation, he then begins to sing, to the greatest displeasure of the assembly, wandering, as the song progresses, towards strange and unknown tones.
A performance that amazed fans of the Quebec singer, and restored her image at the same time.
"I didn't think Jake Gyllenhaal could redeem himself with me personally, but the fact that he sings Celine Dion at #snl may just have convinced me," said a user on Twitter.
No doubt: the actor can now claim the casting of the greatest musicals.
