According to experts, German universities and technical colleges are facing an onslaught of academics from Ukraine.
"We are currently assuming that up to 100,000 Ukrainian students and researchers will need support and academic perspectives in Germany in the near future," says Joybrato Mukherjee, President of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
In order to be able to handle these tasks, a central academic information center is needed in addition to financial aid programs.
The DAAD has therefore created a corresponding online platform for refugees from Ukraine.
On the website of the National Academic Contact Point Ukraine, Ukrainian students and researchers can find information on residence, studies and research as well as everyday life in Germany.
The portal is available in German and English, the Ukrainian language version is still in development.
The offer also bundles offers of help from German science.
Numerous universities have already made scholarships and other aids available from their budget funds.
There is a great deal of interest in this: since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, the DAAD has received more than a thousand requests for information and support.
