Researchers have found that the gifted are not only very intelligent.
Another positive quality you can learn from them.
Anyone with an
intelligence quotient (IQ) above 130
is considered
gifted
.
But
only two percent of all people
are gifted, according to a report by
Business
Insider, while the intelligence of most people is between an
IQ of 85 and 115
.
With the help of established tests, the intelligence quotient and, if applicable, giftedness are determined.
In addition to the intelligence quotient, which measures the general intelligence of a person, one often speaks of emotional intelligence in science.
You can find out here, for example, how this can be checked in an interview.
The two researchers Uzeyir Ogurlu and Adnan Özbey from the faculty of education at the US University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point have discovered that intelligence is not the only thing that distinguishes gifted people from normally intelligent people.
What distinguishes the gifted from others – these prejudices exist
According to the report, many gifted people believe that they don't need to study and can instantly remember anything they see or hear.
Also, that gifted people have social difficulties and are considered
"nerds"
is a prejudice that persists to this day.
According to the report, many people also believe that gifted people have
behavioral
problems or are even aggressive and have
psychological problems
.
There are so many different reasons for certain behavior patterns.

This is what differentiates the gifted from the “normal” – apart from their IQ
On the one hand, gifted people differ from normally intelligent people in their intelligence quotient.
According to Business Insider, however, the two researchers have made another discovery that distinguishes the highly gifted from the "normal":
openness
to new experiences.
The meta-study, published in the journal
High Ability Studies
, shows that, unlike most other people, gifted people like to get out of their
comfort zone
.
They are also
flexible in their thinking and behavior
and often
unconventional
with a soft spot for
art and creativity
.

What you can learn from the gifted, even if you are "only normally intelligent".
According to the report, gifted people find it easier to empathize with other people, even if they think completely differently than you do. They like to try new foods or take on sporting challenges.
Normally intelligent people can copy the openness and intellectual curiosity of the gifted without needing an above-average IQ: When was the last time you left your comfort zone and tried something new?
