WhatsApp announces many new features: The trend towards emoji-heavy conversations will continue - soon you will be able to react to messages with the entire "Emoji Palette".
Munich – Various new What's App functions have been announced for 2022.
In addition to new playback options for voice messages, the improved emoji function is of particular interest to many users.
WhatsApp: Update significantly improves emoji function
WhatsApp is currently testing the so-called news reactions intensively, as reported
by WABetaInfo
.
It should therefore not be long before a new feature arrives at all Messenger users.
If you don't want to reply to messages with a text, but rather with an emoji alone, you no longer have to type the desired emoji into the text field, but can access the entire "range" of emojis directly by tapping on the message.
This makes it possible for users to add an emoji directly to a message.
This is already possible on Facebook, for example.
According to
WABetaInfo
, there are six emojis to choose from, which can be attached to a message as a reaction.
In addition to a thumb as an emoji reaction for "Like", there is a heart, a laughing, sad and surprised emoji and the clasped hands that signal "thank you".
But the selection should probably be much more extensive.
A plus icon will soon appear to the right of the six emojis.
By tapping, users will then probably get to an extended emoji overview, from which they can then select.
Whether these are all emojis remains unclear at first.
Also new on WhatsApp: Six playback functions for voice messages
One of the most recently announced updates to WhatsApp has recently become available.
WhatsApp now offers six new listening functions for voice messages.
Fans of voice messages will get their money's worth.
Messages can now be listened to outside of the chat window, and playback can also be paused.
WhatsApp also offers a visualization of the messages in waveform - not too great a benefit is evident with this function, but at least: something new.
The new option to play back composed messages before they are sent is all the more useful.
It is also practical that received messages can be paused and later continued to be listened to from the paused point (especially in view of the novels that some users want to read about in their environment).
The new option of listening to forwarded voice messages at twice the speed is also a time-saver.

Incidentally, a change in the legal situation in Germany could soon prompt WhatsApp to make some changes: users should be able to communicate more easily with users of other chat services.
