Saarbrücken: horse must be put to sleep on the street

In Saarbrücken, a horse broke through the floor of its transport trailer during a car ride.

The animal was so badly injured that it had to be euthanized at the scene of the accident.

According to the current state of knowledge, the animal was startled in the trailer and hit the ground with its hind legs, the police in Saarbrücken said.

After a further distance of about 250 meters, the vehicle occupants noticed that straw fell from the trailer onto the road.

They then found that the horse had bottomed out and that the left hind leg was being dragged across the asphalt.

A vet assessed the injuries as so serious that he put the horse to sleep on the spot.
