Frank Langela, the veteran and esteemed Oscar-nominated actor and winner of the Tony Award, was fired from his role in a new and intriguing series by the streaming giant, following inappropriate behavior on the set • All details

Oscar-nominated actor and Tony Award-winning actor Frank Langela has been fired for his role in the new series "Falling House of Asher," which is currently being filmed for Netflix, following allegations of sexual harassment, Hollywood website Deadline reported.

According to TMZ, the 84-year-old Langela joked inappropriately with one of the actresses appearing next to him and also put his hand on her leg.

Langela was to star in the eight-episode series, as Roderick Asher - the family patriarch.

The series, which is based on the classic story of Edgar Allan Poe, was in the midst of filming when the affair exploded, so the scenes in which Nagela participates will be re-filmed with another actor (who has yet to be cast).

Langela has been active as an actor since the early 1960s and has appeared over the decades in dozens of theater productions, films and TV series.

He is best known for his role as Richard Nixon in "Frost / Nixon" (a role that earned him an Oscar nomination) and films such as "Superman Returns," "The Law of the Seven from Chicago," "Rulers of the Universe" and more.

Langela has won the Tony Award four times: twice in the Best Leading Actor category (for his roles in "Frost / Nixon" and "The Father") and twice in the supporting actor category.

"Fall of the House of Asher" is led by horror artist Mike Flanagan who is in the midst of an impressive streak in recent years that includes series like "Who Lives in the Hill House" and "Midnight Ceremony" and movies like "Gerald's Game" and "Doctor Sleep."

Actors who have been cast alongside Langela in "Falling House Asher" include Carla Gujino, Marc Hamill, Mary McDonald and Carl Lumbeli.

In a series of tweets he published in late 2021, Flanagan said the new series is expected to be "a modern remix of Edgar Allan Poe's most iconic works" and that "in order to unravel the epic tale Pooh wrote about greed, horror and tragedy we put together the greatest cast we have ever made" .

Mentflix and on behalf of Mike Flanagan did not respond.
