From 1 January 2021 to February 2022, more than 5 million euros ended up in the pockets of people who received their citizenship income improperly.
This is what the Carabinieri of the Legions Lazio, Tuscany, Umbria, Marche, Sardinia discovered, framed in the "Podgora" Interregional Command and the local Carabinieri Labor Inspectorate Nuclei who reported 955 people for perception of the benefit in violation of the law.
The investigation revealed that there were those who had failed to declare to be the owner of real estate for which they received income, those who had falsely declared the composition of their family unit and relative income, who had declared a false place of residence and who had failed to declare preventive or precautionary measures against their own or family members.
The irregularities that emerged in the municipalities of Lazio, Tuscany, Marche, Sardinia and Umbria amounted to 955, about 10% of the 9,575 people checked.
Among those reported there are 584 subjects already known to the police and 472 foreigners.
The irregularities found have brought out the figure of 5,245,341 euros unduly received.
"The institutional synergy with the INPS, which provided its collaboration to the Arma, proved to be fundamental. The social security institution, which has already been notified of the offenses ascertained, will also be responsible for initiating the procedure for the recovery of the total sum unduly received. ", explains a note from the carabinieri.
Specifically, the men of the Arma in the Lazio region, out of 2,504 controlled persons who benefited from citizenship income, reported 543 with a total amount of income unduly received equal to 3,116,522 euros;
in Tuscany, 153 out of 1,810 controlled persons lacked the requisites envisaged by the legislation with a total income unduly received equal to 636,998;
in the Marche region, 67 people were reported out of 1,447 controlled with 450,075 of income unduly received;
in Sardinia, 163 out of 3,260 people checked were reported, with 863,670 euros of income unduly received;
finally in Umbria, out of 554 people controlled by the Carabinieri, 29 were found to be without the requisites and therefore reported with 178,075 euros of income received unduly.
