In connection with the death of Argentina's soccer icon Diego Maradona in 2020, the responsible prosecutors have now requested a trial for involuntary manslaughter.
A corresponding application was made against the medical staff who had treated the former superstar at the time.
Omissions and mistreatment by eight doctors responsible for Maradona had brought him into a "situation of helplessness," according to the court document quoted by the Argentine news agency Telam.
They left him "to his fate" during a "scandalous" hospital stay.

Maradona died of a heart attack on November 25, 2020 at the age of 60 (Read an obituary here).
The main people responsible for the ex-footballer's health were his family doctor Leopoldo Luque and psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov.
She is under investigation, as are six other people from Maradona's medical environment.
»Insufficient, deficient and careless«
The judicial struggle over the death of the former world-class player has been going on for months.
The accused were heard in court in San Isidro, a suburb of Buenos Aires, last year.
They rejected the allegations.
Earlier, a report by 20 medical experts found that Maradona had been treated "insufficiently, deficiently and carelessly" by his medical team at his residence near the Argentine capital, leading to the slow death of the captain of Argentina's 1986 World Cup team in Mexico .
Maradona, also known as »El Pibe de Oro« (The Golden Boy), led an extravagant life, paid little attention to his body, was very overweight and was addicted to drugs.
He suffered at least two heart attacks, contracted hepatitis, and had a gastric bypass done because he was overweight.
In addition, Maradona was repeatedly treated for his drug addiction (cocaine).
