Draghi keeps the land registry and ensures: 'I stay in my place'

Meeting with the center-right government, no new taxes. But changes awaited (ANSA)

The land registry reform will take place, because the Italian real estate archive needs an update and more transparency, but it will not lead to new taxes on the house

.

It is the double cornerstone of the government on fiscal delegation.

Mario Draghi thus reassures - once again - the center-right that supports him and implicitly locks his place in Palazzo Chigi.

No early move, he implies, because he is not tired and his commitment to him will continue to be "at its best, doing everything in his power to him" until the end of the term.

In the face to face requested by Lega and Forza Italia, therefore, the former central banker confirms the line on the new cadastre that agitates the center-right so much.

He doesn't erase it, but neither does he raise a wall.

Indeed, he puts the technicians of the Ministry of Economy to work to correct the text together with the parties (on the dual system, for example, technical work will be done to refine the text).

Next check, after Easter.

This is enough for Matteo Salvini and Antonio Tajani to show confidence at the end of the match.

Satisfied with "Draghi's ample willingness to solve problems", the Northern League leader quickly hints at the mantra of 'no more taxes' and slips away from the reporters wishing a happy Easter.

In the evening he points out the no to stangate "neither today nor in a few years", given that the reform should come into force from 2026 and that this "is and remains the essential condition for voting on the fiscal delegation".

The number two of FI is also positive, smiling at the 'threat' of trust, because "if an agreement is found, there is no need", he points out.

A hypothesis that in reality still hovers over the provision that last Thursday transformed the Finance Committee of the House into a ring, up to the forced stop and waiting for the arrival in the Chamber, yet to be defined.

The clarifying summit, however, seems to have brought the peace back.

It is no coincidence that Carlo Calenda dismisses the interview as "theater, not politics" with "proclamations and threats to not vote in the face of a non-existent risk" and ended with "we have always loved each other", according to the leader of Action.

And Giorgia Meloni belittles: "From Draghi only words".

In reality, the stillness is apparent and dictated by a watchful and inevitable wait.

Above all among the leaguers, doubts remain about how the updating of the land registry will be reconciled with the tax guarantee.

The most extremists dwell on the opening of Palazzo Chigi to file the law, a sign that the fears raised were well founded.

In any case, the first round, which lasted an hour and a half, ends in an atmosphere of confrontation rather than confrontation, as many say.

Draghi welcomes the full delegation of the center-right government: in addition to Lega and FI, there are the leaders of the UDC, Courage Italy,

Noi con Italia and there is no shortage of parliamentary group leaders.

Together with the premier is the Minister of Economy, Franco.

Salvini and Tajani reiterate that support for the government is not in question, but there is no joking about tax rates and housing and savings.

And the little ones of the coalition join the chorus: all present also to show the compactness of the front.

Marco Marin of Coraggio Italia points out this, adding that there is "no tear but only constructive proposals to protect the Italians in such a difficult moment".

The center-right replies above all to Enrico Letta of the Democratic Party who, shortly before the interview in Chigi, tweets: "Today the center-right that supports Draghi makes propaganda and goes to protest on issues on which Draghi has already clarified. We meet trade unions and companies on wages, inflation and high cost of living ".

Hence Salvini's withheld response: "I hope the Pd and M5s stop with the provocations".

In the meeting, the premier ignores the controversy.

But he would not hide his regret at being portrayed in the press as the head of government who wants to raise taxes, assuring that with his executive it will not happen.

The same applies to the commitment, denying any suspicion of fatigue: "I would get very tired if I were not put in a position to be able to operate, but this is not the case".
