The last precipitations have been weak and not very incisive so that the area of the Po district is still in an "extremely deficient" condition for the quantity of water resources present and estimated.

This is the conclusion of today's session of the District Authority's Water Crises Observatory (AdbPo - Mite) which is updated on 6 May.

The analysts' balance still outlines an emergency profile: the flow rates of the Po river "remain below the historical averages in almost all the survey stations";

the great Alpine lakes "have not increased, if not only significantly, their capacity to invade";

the production of hydroelectric energy, "in this moment of need, is almost at a standstill or in fits and starts", while most of the agricultural sector "was forced to postpone the sowing by two weeks, confirming to date a data of water withdrawal for the purpose irrigation at historic lows ".

In the Delta of the great river "the saline wedge rises heavily for more than 10-12 kilometers from the Adriatic coast and forces the local reclamation consortia (Delta Rovigo) to almost completely close the derivation sampling,

limiting itself to a few hours of low tide.

Even the drinking water emergency, compensated by the dispatch of tankers, which concerned some Piedmontese municipalities today also affects Lombard territories in the Varese and Bresciano areas ".

"The estimated forecasts give us two possible incoming disturbances, a first lighter one and a more incident at the turn of April 25 - explains Meuccio Berselli, AdbPo secretary - For this reason we will immediately take stock in the first days of May to verify if the the overall picture will be improved and what further measures to take and to coordinate with the regional administrations in addition to those already adopted ".
