Brangelina: once upon a time the last of the power couples

2022-04-19T12:49:21.514Z

PODCAST – In the fourth episode of Scandals, we follow in the footsteps of the couple formed by Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, and how they marked an entire generation, and no doubt, the end of an era.

They have long been Hollywood's most iconic couple.

Brad Pitt.

Angelina Jolie.

These two names alone evoke overloaded photocalls, screaming fans in hotel lobbies, perfect and fair brushings, a fabulous world where everything becomes possible.

After getting together in 2005, they become so famous that we even merge their first names, giving life to a kind of mythical entity: the Brangelina.

This entity, the Americans have called it the "power couple", and we have never found a word that meant the same thing, with as much force, in French.

Over the years, there have been other power couples, which have come and gone.

The Brangelinas held on.

A long time.

So much so that they were believed to be indestructible and untouchable.

Until that day in 2016, when Angelina Jolie suddenly filed for divorce.

The model of the perfect couple and the great family is collapsing.

Behind them, nothing and no one to replace them.

In this episode of

Scandals

, journalist Marion Galy-Ramounot wonders: did the breakup of the Brangelina mark the end of an era?

Were Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie the first of the

power couples

, but also the last?

But above all, by diving back into their history, she sought to understand why there is such enthusiasm, and sometimes so much madness, around these star couples.
