Ikea will offer solar systems in the future.

The expansion of the range is part of a multi-million dollar investment in renewable energy.

Munich – The furnishing giant Ikea is known for its extensive and colorful range of various items for the household.

It doesn't matter whether it's elegantly designed beds, cupboards and shelves or unique odds and ends that you didn't actually look for until they found their way into the shopping trolley - there's a lot on offer in the large sales halls of the Swedish company.

Do-it-yourself kitchen planning, where customers can design and design their own kitchen free of charge, is likely to be particularly popular – an enticing offer that is guaranteed to make the hearts of all amateur interior designers beat faster.

Now the company has announced an interesting expansion of its range with the legendary yellow-blue logo, which should go down particularly well with environmental friends and energy savers.

Because in the future, customers should be able to buy solar systems – simply and easily, just as you are used to from Ikea.

Ikea sells solar systems: orders are placed in the online shop

Under the name "Solstråle", customers can put together their own photovoltaic system in the Ikea online shop.

There are six different sizes to choose from - which should cover all needs, from a small system with 8 modules to a colossus with 28 modules.

Although price increases have been announced for 2022, Ikea is still attracting customers with new offers to the 54 locations throughout Germany.

However, as with other providers, aspiring solar fans have to dig deep into their pockets for PV systems.

A small system costs 9,200 euros, while the largest available configuration is a real luxury item at 21,800 euros.

Sounds like a lot of money - and it is - but an energy-saving lifestyle doesn't come for free.

Ikea sells solar systems: the offer promises a convenient process

Ikea offers the photovoltaic systems in collaboration with the Swedish company Svea Solar.

Instead of going to the branch, customers can therefore easily arrange an appointment online, where they can look for the right model together before signing the binding purchase contract.

The solar professionals then install the modules.

Sounds comfortable, as many Ikea products promise.

Ikea sells solar systems: Company invests millions in solar systems

As the company announced at the beginning of the month, solar energy will also play a major role at Ikea outside of the range in the future.

Because the Ingka Group, which stands behind the IKEA brand, is investing around 340 million euros in nine photovoltaic systems in Germany and Spain.

This means that all locations and warehouses in both countries will switch to solar energy next year.

But due to the Ukraine crisis, Ikea is completely shutting down operations in two countries.
