The Writers' Festival and the International Book Forum will be held side by side at Mishkenot Sha'ananim, YMCA, Jerusalem between May 19-15.
Among the forum guests this year: David Rowan, founder of WIRED magazine, Jürgen Boss - CEO of the Frankfurt Book Fair, Elena Pasoli, director of the Bologna Fair for Children's Literature, Jan Patterson, director of the BBC audio books, Lisa Lucas - publisher of Pantheon and Schocken Books USA, Barbara Marcus - President of Random House Children's Books USA, Stefan von Holtzbrinck - CEO of Holtzbrinck Publishing Group, and many more.
This year's festival guests: Olga Tokarczuk (Poland), Giovanna Giordano (Italy), Julian Barnes (England), Joshua Cohen (USA), Harve La Talia (France), Veronica Ulmi (France), Christian Kracht (Switzerland / Germany), Peter Handka (Austria), Peter Singer (Australia), Oksana Zabuzhko (Ukraine), Jonathan Franzen (USA).
They will hold meetings with Israeli writers and poets, among them: AB Yehoshua, Yuval Noah Harari, Avishalom von Shiloach, Dorit Shilo Oded Volkstein, Ayala Ben Porat, Netali Gvirtz, Rita Kogan, Meir Shalev, Alon Hilu, Yochi Brands, Jason Danino Holt, Amir Naaman, Nehama Gross, Rivki Rosner, Oded Carmeli, Shani Poker, Noa Sorek, Noam Pratom, Ron Dahan, Roni Somek, Roi Hassan, Odia Rosenk, Ofir Mashraki, Noa Yadlin, Dorit Rabinian, Dror Mishani, Yehoshua Sobol, Amichai Hasson and more.
One of the most intriguing events at this year's fair is the arrival of the four directors of the world's leading book fairs: Jürgen Boss from Frankfurt, Elena Pasolly from Bologna, Nofi Shatzigiogrio from Thessaloniki and Frida Adman from Sweden, coming to Jerusalem to discuss the future of these international meeting venues.
Another discussion will deal with the meteoric success of children's and youth books in the last two years.
Speakers: Barbara Marcus, President and Publisher of Random House Children's Books USA, and Belinda Ioni Rasmussen, CEO of Macmillan Children's Books UK.
Other discussions will deal with the original activities and success of independent publishers in recent years around the world, the contemporary socio-political discourse and the experience of literary agents working in countries and languages foreign to their origins.
Other interesting events to be held this year: Olga Tokerchuk, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature (2018) and the Man-Boker Prize (2018) from the historical novel "Sefri Yaakov" (Carmel Publishing) and "On the Bones of the Dead" (Ahuzat Beit), talk to Tamar A man of peace on the fine line between debate and history and political writing.

At the festival, emphasis was placed on the climate crisis and the individual's commitment to the community and the environment.
In collaboration with the Conrad Adenauer Foundation in Israel, Prof. Peter Singer and Prof. Yuval Noah Harari will talk online about the growing impact of globalization on Earth with Prof. Liad Modrik.
The festival director is Einat Ashdot and the artistic director is Julia Fermento Zeissler.

Admission to the outdoor events and online meetings at the Writers Festival is free.
