Finally, in prime time there is a disabled person and not for freak show purposes Israel today

The great achievement of "Returning to the Misses" is the fact that Yigal Shilon presents a program in a wheelchair - and no one is scared of his disability

The documentary, which aired a few months ago and revealed the injury that paralyzed Yigal Shilon, left a general impression that Shilon was a comedic TV genius.

And as proof, in the nineties he took a low and controversial genre, based on banana peels and blatant lies, and created from it a program that was based week after week at the top of the ratings charts.

But to what extent does the talent for sweeping the masses into this circus still work today?

Tensions will not go away from the world.

They are common today mainly on social networks, while on television their place has been undermined and pushed to the margins due to ethical and moral limitations as to the degree of exaggeration that can be reached in the face of the object of tension, and what can be broadcast.

Thus, in the end, after three programs of "Returning to the Misses" - which is actually a collection of the real thing - the only thing worth dwelling on is Yigal Shilon.

Because a prime-time presenter who presents a program in a wheelchair has not been in Israel since Avi Etgar hosted entertainment programs in the eighties.

Although Shilon's paralysis is not part of the format, and also much less funny, it is clear that it marks a rare event on the Israeli screen.

And yet, even though in the debut show Eli Yitzpan threw a few punches on the matter, Shilon's condition is not personal, and no one is alarmed that he speaks slowly and does not move.

The general nonchalance of his situation ostensibly represents real progress in the industry, which in general is reluctant to integrate people with disabilities on screen for non-freak show purposes.

Therefore, it is a pity that Shilon's difference is not noticeable enough, because what is left without it is mostly retro pixelated and nothing beyond.

As if time had stopped reigning in the studio of "Misses."

To watch Bitzpan disguised as an Arab sheikh trying to buy Pnina Rosenblum and persuade her to marry him, when her discomfort from the situation screams into the distance, is not content that contemporary viewers will connect with.

Nor for a prank on the confused Yuval that stretched over 20 minutes, and aired last night alongside eight minutes of Nikki Goldstein's phone prank.

"Going Back to the Misses" is careful to be a soft and pleasant nostalgia, but it reminds us that it is better for certain things to remain in the past.
