Investigators found numerous weapons of war and National Socialist memorabilia in the house of a suspected "Reich citizen" in northern Baden-Württemberg.
The President of the Baden-Württemberg State Criminal Police Office, Andreas Stenger, spoke of walk-in armories and Reich flags, among other things.
There was a machine gun in the living room, and basically there was ammunition everywhere.
It is said that there was also a cannabis plantation in the house in Boxberg in the Main-Tauber district.
police officer seriously injured
The 54-year-old resident of the house is in custody after allegedly shooting at a police officer on Wednesday.
The man also admitted that, said the chief public prosecutor in Mosbach, Florian Kienle.
The accusation is attempted murder combined with bodily harm and illegal possession of a weapon of war.
The police officer was said to have suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Six other people arrested during the operation, including two women, are free again.
The investigations against her are said to be ongoing.
A fire also broke out during the incident, and according to the police, the house burned down in a controlled manner.
Because of the political background, it is possible that the Attorney General in Karlsruhe will take over the case.
Baden-Württemberg's Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU) said shortly after the incident that there were indications "that the alleged perpetrator was close to or a member of the Reich Citizens' Scene."
"Reichsbürger" and "Selbstverwalter" deny the existence of the Federal Republic of Germany and its legal system, deny politicians and civil servants their legitimacy and repeatedly break the law.
