An insider claims to know about a huge deal at PlayStation.

The target of these rumors was Kojima Productions, run by gaming genius Hideo Kojima.
The rumors turned out to be false, but that doesn't mean Sony doesn't have a new deal in the pipeline anyway.
An insider says the PlayStation* company's next deal is even bigger than Kojima Productions.

PS5: Sony has bigger plans for acquisitions than Kojima Productions, insiders say
Who is the insider?
Gaming is full of insiders who regularly claim to have the latest information on upcoming games.
Many of these are consistently proven wrong, but a few people have carved out some expert status.
One of them is Jeff Grubb, who has been sharing his latest insider knowledge with his fans via Twitter and his YouTube channel for years.
Grubb has also been right a few times with his information about the PS5 and now he has also turned on the rumors of purchases at Sony.
What did he have to say about the deal?
In a snippet from his podcast, Jeff Grubb mentions that, to his knowledge, the rumors were never about a deal between Sony and Kojima Productions*.
Grubb believes that the company from San Mateo is set to be taken over soon.
The studio that Sony has in mind should be something bigger than Hideo Kojima's.
PS5: Which companies are eligible for an acquisition?
Which company could be meant?
There are several candidates that could be considered for a takeover by Sony.
Leading the way are From Software and Bandai Namco, both of which have worked closely with Sony in the past and are currently in high demand with the release of Elden Ring*.

From Software has previously developed exclusive titles for PS3 and PS4, an exclusive project or even a takeover for the PS5 cannot be ruled out.
Other well-known companies such as Capcom or Square Enix also consider many to be likely targets of Sony's acquisition.
For the moment, however, all these possibilities are purely speculative, as Sony itself has not yet commented on new deals.
Which studios already belong to Sony?
Sony has already made extensive purchases in recent months.
A new wave of deals and acquisitions was unleashed after Microsoft* bought Zenimax, Bethesda's parent company, last year.
Since then, the PlayStation company has responded by acquiring Bungie (Destiny), Housemarque (Returnal), and Haven, among others.
These studios will continue to develop for the PS5 in the future.
