Recall is necessary because: EU-wide sales ban for Lillial

Charlotte Meentzen GmbH reports on its website that Lilial (INCI: butylphenyl methylpropional) is a synthetic fragrance.

It is one of the 26 perfume oil ingredients that have to be declared on the product packaging due to their allergenic potential.

A few years ago, the health safety of Lilial was reassessed and further scientific data was collected.

In a statement from May 2019, the SCCS (Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety), advisor to the European Commission on safety issues relating to consumer goods, classified Lillial as an ingredient of concern in cosmetics, according to Charlotte Meentzen GmbH.

Based on these results, a sales ban will apply to products with this ingredient from March 1st, 2022.

Recall mainly because of the danger for allergy sufferers: do not use the cream if you have intolerances

Products with Lilial were allowed to be offered in stores until the end of February 2022 and could still be used up afterwards, Charlotte Meentzen states in his recall.

However, since Lilial is an allergenic substance and is not declared on the packaging of the recalled tinted day creams, allergy sufferers and people with intolerances in particular are advised not to use the product anymore.

Testers from the batches mentioned are also affected and should be discarded.

Customer service is available at the email address produktrueckruf@meentzen.de for all other questions.
