Green traffic light does not automatically mean free travel.

At a certain stop line, drivers should be particularly careful.

Not only traffic signs have their pitfalls for drivers.

Whether it's a black dot on a white surface or round, yellow or orange with lots of black numbers and arrows - it's not always clear what's going on.

But traffic lights can also cause problems.

A green traffic light does not always mean free travel.

On the other hand, there are three exceptions for running a red traffic light, as

echo24.de

reports.

Exploiting the yellow phase, on the other hand, is a big mistake.

The traffic light is therefore a big fine trap for drivers in road traffic.

Green traffic light: When drivers disregard traffic jams at intersections

You have to reckon with a fine of 360 euros if you illegally drive over a red traffic light.

There are also two points in Flensburg and a one-month driving ban.

And even if you drive through a green traffic light, you have to expect a penalty under certain circumstances.

The classic can be found in rush hour traffic.

It is precisely then that the intersections are often blocked.

However, that shouldn't really be the case.

Motorists are not allowed to drive through a green traffic light if it is not expected that they will not make any further progress due to the traffic jam.

Anyone who does it anyway and obstructs traffic in other lanes must expect a fine of 20 euros.

Suddenly red: What to do if the situation changes after the green traffic light

A green light can also cause problems for those turning left.

Anyone who crosses the stop line and has to wait until the cars in front have turned off and the traffic light has switched to red is stuck.

If the other lanes are not obstructed, you should definitely continue driving.

In general, however, it is important to remain calm.

Motorists who try to reverse quickly in such a situation may endanger pedestrians and other cars that are still waiting at the traffic light.

Important: If the green traffic light changes to red after crossing the stop line when turning, there is no risk of a fine.

Green traffic light: "Stop here on red" should be observed

Anyone approaching a green traffic light with the additional sign "stop here on red" must be particularly careful.

There is an advanced stop line here.

The

General German Automobile Club (ADAC)

writes:

"If the additional sign "stop here at red" is placed at the second stop line, it is a red light violation if the second stop line is crossed at red light."

Drivers who are still too far ahead must reckon with a fine of 20 euros.

These advanced stop lines are often found in narrow streets, which are then usually also used by buses.

In the event of an accident, the penalty can also be higher – partial culpability is then also conceivable.

Not only green traffic lights: There are also unfamiliar traffic signs on freeways

But it is not only in city traffic that many drivers struggle with traffic lights and traffic signs: There are also signs on the freeway that are not immediately familiar.

Most road users rush unsuspectingly at the orange arrow on a white background and can rarely do anything with the blue and white sign with tools.
