A 45-minute flight from Ben-Gurion Airport and we arrived in Paphos, the coastal city in the southwestern part of Cyprus.

Anassa Hotel, a 50-minute drive from Paphos Airport, is part of the Thalos Hotels & Resorts luxury hotel group owned by the Michaels family.

The pastoral hotel, which opened its tourist season in early April, is considered one of the most prestigious spa hotels in Europe.

It is set in extensive gardens with olive groves and bougainvillea, and has a private stretch of beach.

The hotel, where it is believed that the small details make the difference (including the sampled cookies at breakfast), is built as a complex of several buildings designed by Parisian interior designer Joel Palau.

Prices start from 395 euros per person per night in a double room.

Those who are interested (and also able to pay) can indulge in a villa with a private pool.

Cost:

about 5,000 euros per night for a three-bedroom villa;

About 7,000 euros for a five-bedroom villa.

"The best season in 25 years"

"Last year, the year of the Corona, our hotel had the best season in 25 years," says Sebastian Wurst, the hotel's CEO. "Even now I look forward to a successful season.

Those who visit our hotel most often are British, Russian and Israeli tourists.

If the war between Russia and Ukraine continues, it is not certain that we will see all the tourists from Russia.

But many of them already have hotel reservations for the coming months.

Some of them even live outside of Russia.

Those who do live in Russia will be able to get here via Tel Aviv, for example, because EU countries have currently closed Russia's airspace to Russia.

Tourism is very dependent on flights.

Until now for example there have been no direct flights from France to Paphos.

This year there are flights, and we are already seeing bookings of French tourists.

We are also trying to stimulate the American market.

For Americans very far to fly to Paphos.

But many Americans tend to come to Israel, so maybe they can come to us from Israel. "

On the grounds of the Anassa Hotel is also the famous spa, Thalassa Spa, with a unique concept of a Roman bathhouse offering a variety of treatments based on the products of the prestigious international brand Augustinus Bader.

For example, a beauty and glow treatment of about an hour, in which serums, creams and creams are applied to the facial skin, will cost 195 euros.

The hotel also has a kids' club and a variety of restaurants, including the romantic Asian fusion-style gourmet Basiliko restaurant, the Pelagos tavern restaurant and the prestigious Helios restaurant.

Recently renovated with an investment of about 11 million euros.

Friendly for small dogs

On the other side of Paphos are two other hotels of the group: Almyra and Annabelle overlooking the port of Paphos.

If you choose these hotels, the driving distance to them from Paphos Airport is about a quarter of an hour.

The Almyra Hotel has recently undergone extensive refurbishment with an investment of € 4 million (starting at € 179 per person per night in a double room).

The hotel is located next to the beach, has a number of outdoor and indoor pools, a luxurious spa, and is especially suitable for families.

This year, a children's club was established there with an investment of over one million euros.

The hotel is also dog friendly.

Dedicated rooms have a dog bed, a room service menu is also offered for those on all fours, and there is also a special park for them.

But there are some conditions: the dogs that can arrive at the hotel must hold a European "passport" and their weight should be no more than 10 kg. Those years were the good times of the hotel.

"The islands are more isolated, there is no overcrowding, our corona was less felt, and most of the time we could work," he says.

"We also got markets that would not normally come to us: tourism from Scandinavia, France and we also saw a lot of local tourism. In contrast, the traditional markets, such as the English, German and Russian markets came in negligible numbers in Corona."

Mitroy notes that Sharm el-Sheikh and Turkey do pose a kind of competition for the hotel for the Israeli tourist, but is not particularly excited about it.

"Families with children usually come to Sharm. I believe that because of the sense of security we will not lose many customers this year in favor of Sharm, because here people feel safe," he says.

"Yes, we will lose some of the customers in favor of Turkey, but we still have an advantage in terms of flight comfort: both 45 minutes and seven airlines will fly from Israel to Paphos. Therefore, there is nothing to compare. Already in July-August, our hotel occupancy is very high."

Adjacent to the Almyra is the elegant Annabelle Hotel, recently renovated with an investment of around 11 million euros (starting at 157 euros per person per room).

It is mainly suitable for couples, but recently it has also added options that cater to families, for example duplex suites that cost about 600 euros per night for a family with two or three children.

This hotel also has all the facilities, with its guests and Almyra guests able to skip between the pools and spa complexes at both hotels.

Especially suitable for families.

A few minutes walk from these two hotels is the group's new annoying Antasia Beach Club restaurant (sushi lovers will especially enjoy it).

Razwan Bourda, CEO of Annabelle, says that the restaurant was designed by the Israeli architectural firm Baranovich-Kronenberg, and that thanks to its unique design, location and menu, it is an attraction for tourists who come to the place

. Experiential private tours to the surrounding villages, during which, among other things, visitors to dairies and boutique wineries, get to know the process of olive oil production, and of course taste.

Sushi lovers will enjoy it.
