"God of War Ragnarok" will be one of the biggest gaming highlights of the year.

According to a developer, a postponement to 2023 is not to be expected.

The highly anticipated God of War Ragnarok is guaranteed to be released later this year.

At least that's what one of the developers at Santa Monica Studio promises.

Art director Bruno Velazquez responded to a user's query on Twitter with the clear words: "Ragnarok is coming this year".

For PlayStation fans, this means they can look forward to another big highlight in 2022 alongside Horizon: Forbidden West.

"God of War Ragnarok": Release date still unclear

Although this confirmation is gratifying, the developers have

still not given a specific release date

.

The good news for PS4 players is that God of War Ragnarok is coming to both PS4 and PS5.

It is currently unknown whether a PC version will follow.

Fans were able to get a first look at the game during a PlayStation Showcase broadcast last September.

The trailer (seen above) features protagonists Kratos and Atreus, as well as some new characters, including the Norse god Tyr.

God of War Ragnarok concludes Kratos' adventures in Norse mythology

The developers also confirmed that God of War Ragnarok

will end Kratos' foray into Norse mythology

.

When asked why, creative director Cory Barlog explained, "The first game took five years to make.

For the second game, I don't know how long it's going to be... and then when you think, wow, a third game in the same time frame, we're talking a span of almost 15 years for a single story.

I feel like this is just too long.” That doesn't mean the God of War series is finally over, though.

The only question is which deities Kratos will mess with in the future.

(ok)
