The Corona virus information headquarters reported today (Monday) that it is in Israel.
According to the headquarters, in the PCR tests and genetic sequencing performed for passengers returning to Israel at Ben Gurion Airport, three cases carrying a new mutation of the corona virus were discovered last week.
According to the report, this is a BA4 variant, which is now spreading in South Africa and producing an increase in morbidity there.
Three verified people arrived in Israel last week: one returned from South Africa, one from Singapore and one from Italy.
Beyond that, there is still no further information regarding this variant, and the Ministry of Health continues to monitor and update as needed.
As you may recall, last week, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz decided to abolish the obligation to wear masks in enclosed spaces, a decision that came into effect last Saturday night.
