After the Easter holidays, the last corona measures in schools in North Rhine-Westphalia were also dropped.
Even if children and young people want to voluntarily take a rapid corona test at school, this option will no longer be available in the future.
In an email, Yvonne Gebauer's FDP-led ministry asked schools to report unused corona tests via an online system.
These would then be picked up.
Several regional newspapers report this unanimously.
The PCR tests that are stored at primary and special schools should also be picked up in the coming weeks.
Ayla Çelik, Chairwoman of the GEW education union in North Rhine-Westphalia, criticized the behavior of the Ministry of Education as "consistently careless." Ralf Niebisch, Vice-Chairman of the NRW school management association, explained in the WAZ: "The pandemic is not over, the waiver of any organized Wrong protective measures.«
“Corona no longer plays a role in this state government,” the WDR quotes the SPD member of parliament and education expert Jochen Ott as saying.
“Now all schools that want to use tests voluntarily are being deprived of this option as well.”
Up until the Easter holidays, secondary school students who were neither vaccinated nor recovered had to test themselves three times a week.
The mask requirement had already been abolished in North Rhine-Westphalia before the Easter holidays.
