In 2022, tenants will probably have to pay an expensive ancillary costs.

In some cases, the difference to 2021 is more than 100 percent.

Kassel – Energy costs have increased since the beginning of the year.

The Ukraine conflict has played a significant part in record prices for gas, oil and electricity.

Because of these rising costs, many utilities are increasing their tariffs.

The energy company Eon also recently confirmed that prices will be raised, which will affect around 14 million customers.

Due to these rising prices, many tenants are faced with high back payments.

The landlords have to recalculate the additional costs and then claim the increased costs from the tenants.

Since the prices were relatively stable well into the new year, the calculations have not yet been adjusted.

Energy costs 2022: Ancillary cost billing for oil and gas will be expensive

Udo Sieverding, energy expert at the NRW consumer advice center, expects that the hammer prize will not reach consumers until the new year.

This is reported by the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung.

The comparison portal Verivox carried out an exclusive oil and gas check for Bild.

This shows how high additional costs average single, two- and four-person households have to reckon with.

model households:

costs in 2021

Single household (50 square meters of living space)

391 euros (gas) and 309 euros (oil)

Two-person household (50 square meters of living space)

496 euros (gas) and 433 euros (oil)

Four-person household (100 square meters of living space)

932 euros (gas) and 927 euros (oil)

model households:

Costs in 2022:

Single household (50 square meters of living space)

717 euros (gas) and 650 euros (oil)

Two-person household (50 square meters of living space)

956 euros (gas) and 910 euros (oil)

Four-person household (100 square meters of living space)

1889 euros (gas) and 1951 (oil)

For example, a single household with a living space of fifty square meters would have to pay about 84 percent more gas bills.

The costs in the sample calculation for 2021 therefore amounted to 391 euros.

In 2022, the tenant has to reckon with 717 euros.

For a couple household also with 50 square meters, the co-payment will be a little higher.

Instead of 496 euros in 2021, they pay 956 euros in 2022.

This corresponds to a difference of 93 percent.

A four-person household has to reckon with about 10 percent more.

As an example, a 100 square meter apartment is taken here, the gas costs of which will increase by around 957 euros to 1889 euros in 2022.

Rising Oil & Gas Costs: Financial difficulties due to rising energy costs

The price increase for oil, on the other hand, does not depend on the living space and the number of people in a household.

Here the difference is 110 percent for all of them.

For a single household, that would mean that instead of 309 euros, 650 euros would have to be paid here.

For a two-person household, the costs increase from 433 euros to 910 euros.

And for a four-person household, it's 1951 euros instead of 927 euros.

In order to reduce these costs at least a little, energy can be saved.

With simple tricks such as the right heating or finding power guzzlers in the household, energy and thus money can be saved.

All in all, this means a hefty extra payment for all tenants.

Because the calculated additional costs are paid monthly and then billed again at the end of the year to eliminate differences.

This means that everyone has to make a one-off payment, which can be particularly high due to current energy prices.

Based on the examples, these model households would have to pay between 500 and almost 2000 euros.

"There will be households that will face financial problems as a result of the additional payments," says Sieverding.
