When a man is renovating his house, he gets a big surprise: an old McDonald's menu is hidden behind the bathroom wall.
During renovation work, the strangest things always come to light.
For example, residents once found a huge game board under their old carpet.
Others, on the other hand, were amazed when they discovered a hidden message behind the wallpaper.
But this curious find probably tops everything.
Renovations: 1950's McDonald's menu behind bathroom wall
A man in Illinois
was renovating his bathroom
when he noticed something odd: "When I was removing a faucet in the bathroom, I noticed a piece of fabric stuck behind the plaster," American Rob tells the News portal
newsweek.com
.
"I pulled it out to show my wife.
It was balled up and we could tell there was something else inside.”
The couple immediately took a look inside the rag - and saw a package with a well-known lettering.
In fact,
a whole McDonald's menu with four bags
was hidden in the cloth, including nibbled fries.
He posted a picture of the curious find on
.
The fries were reportedly still "perfectly crispy," Rob wrote in the comments to his picture.
Presumably construction workers left their rubbish in the bathroom wall
The couple's home was built in Crystal Lake in 1959.
And since then, the finder suspects that the fast food menu has also been in the bathroom wall.
That's probably true, too, since the paper bag that the menu is wrapped in features an
outdated logo for the fast-food chain
, which was only replaced by the well-known golden arches in 1961.
A Reddit user suspects that construction workers simply left their rubbish in the wall: "As a former construction worker, you would be surprised at how many bags of chips, Gatorade bottles, Coke bottles, fast food cups there are in many newer homes. In fact, in 1959, one of the first McDonald's locations in the United States opened its doors nearby.
In any case, Rob was relieved on Reddit that the paper bag contained "only fries".
He was already worried that he'd stumbled upon something more sinister.
