(ANSA) - TRIESTE, APRIL 27 - The plant residues found on the soles of Liliana Resinovich's shoes are compatible with the soil in the area where the body was found.

The chief prosecutor of Trieste Antonio DeNicolo makes it known with a press release.

From the tests carried out, it is assumed that Liliana may "have traveled the sections of the access road to the site where the lifeless body was found".

The note from the Public Prosecutor confirms the rumors that had circulated a few days ago on the outcome of this consultation.

The plant residues present in the soles, explains the note, "seem to indicate a probable link with the vegetation and soil of the find and the access routes to it. It seems plausible that the material adhering to the shoes, in particular that of the right shoe, was collected by Liliana Resinovich on the pedestrian pavement that runs along the last stretch of via Weiss before the entrance to the discovery site ".

The collected material "therefore seems to reasonably indicate a trampling of the soil of Liliana of the site and of the access routes to it".

Some "elements of uncertainty are linked to the poor state of conservation of some plant fragments, which, removed from the shoe, were placed in a humid test tube, and did not keep their original shape. Further confirmation could be sought with the use of molecular techniques (plant DNA) to establish with greater confidence the attribution to the species present in the area ".

Liliana Resinovich had disappeared from home on December 14th.

Her body was found in the woods of the park of the former psychiatric hospital of San Giovanni on January 5, wrapped in two black bags.

Investigations to trace the causes of the death are still ongoing.

The Prosecutor's Office, as reiterated in the note, "will formulate its own conclusive decisions" upon their outcome.
