The reports of accidents at work presented to Inail between January and March were 194,106 with an increase of 50.9% compared to the same period of 2021. Inail notes this, explaining that these are provisional data and that the comparison requires " cautions ".
The figure compares with a period of restrictions.
There were 189 reports of fatal accidents in the first quarter (+ 2.2%).
Occupational pathologies reported are increasing with 14,517 complaints (+ 6.9%).
The increase in fatal cases of accidents at work recorded between the first quarters of 2021 and 2022 is linked only to the female component, whose reported fatal cases have gone from 14 to 24, while the male one drops from 171 to 165. According to the Inail data, the complaints of Italian workers are increasing (from 158 to 163), those of EU citizens are decreasing (from 9 to 8) and those of non-EU citizens are equal (18 in both periods).
From the analysis by age group, the increases in deaths among the under 40s (from 34 to 49 cases) and between the 45-49 year-olds (from 22 to 24), decreasing those between the 40-44 year-olds (from 17 to 16).
