(ANSA) - BOLOGNA, APRIL 28 - Life imprisonment confirmed in definitive way to Saverio Cervellati, 58, for killing the companion Cinzia Fusi, 34, in Copparo (Ferrara) on the morning of August 24, 2019. The woman was massacred with a wooden brick in the market where she was employed.
The defendant was also his employer.
It was Cervellati himself who called the carabinieri who found the dying victim in front of him: she died a few hours later in hospital.
This is one of the first definitive sentences, probably the first in Emilia-Romagna, of a life sentence after the legislative amendment to the Red Code, introduced in 2019, with the aggravating circumstance linked to the emotional relationship between murderer and victim and which was sufficient for inflict the maximum penalty.
The Supreme Court has in fact declared inadmissible the defense appeal requesting the recognition of the general attenuations, already rejected on appeal.
The lawyer Denis Lovison, a civil party attorney for the victim's family, expresses satisfaction with the confirmation of the sentence.
The lawyer also represented the Municipalities of Copparo and Riva del Po, both of work and of residence, to which compensation for damage to the community had been recognized, also confirmed in Cassazione.
