For years, Twitch and French television got along like cat and dog.
Streamers and their audiences regularly criticized the "
old
" media, while the PAF did not take its rival very seriously.
But, for the first time, these two information players have agreed to collaborate during the debate between the two tours organized by TF1 and France Télévisions.
Four streamers have bought the right to rebroadcast the program.
After having paid 1500 euros, HygoDécrypte, Samuel Étienne, Sardoche and Jean Massiet commented on the sequence of nearly three hours.
About 250,000 people followed the exchange on their channels.

The first step towards a reconciliation came from the streamers.
“
HugoDécrypte arrived first, he asked us if he could stream the debate, on what condition, the others arrived by snowball effect
”, explains Marie Dupriez, head of TV production at the TF1 group.

We also had smaller accounts but they couldn't afford to pay [duties]
."
On occasion, a new line in the price list has been added, placing Twitch and Youtube channels on the same level as internet media such as Brut and Kombini.
The presidential election, an accelerator
This change in logic between the rivals is not the result of chance.
An event prompted them to change their logic: the debate between Éric Zemmour and Jean-Luc Mélenchon broadcast by BFMTV.
That evening, several videographers took over the news channel's video streams without asking for the slightest agreement.
A hack sanctioned by Twitch which suspended the offenders at the request of the entitled party.
“For a long time streamers have taken over TV programs without asking the question of rights.
This is what they call “react” streams

The problem is that the producers and the channels of these programs are beginning to realize it”
, sums up a good expert in the field.
Rather than take the risk of seeing their accounts – and therefore their income – disappear, streamers today prefer to checkout.
“
I find it a bit shameful to have to pay
”, however annoys Andréas Honnet, better known under the pseudonym Sardoche.
“
For me it was something democratic, the debates, I learned [my lesson] by broadcasting the Mélenchon – Zemmour debate and taking a two-day ban
”.
He adds that the amount to be paid is quite high, which risks preventing small creators from participating or from doing so legally.
Asked about this problem and potential financial assistance, Twitch declined to comment.

One person helped smooth relations between the two camps: Samuel Étienne.
The charismatic presenter of "
Questions for a champion
" and journalist for France Télévisions has been a popular streamer for several months.
His caps make him the perfect bridge between the two environments.
During his program "
La matin est tienne
" he explains with pedagogy the interest represented by the media, the written press but also television.
His activity is viewed favorably by his employer.
The public service itself is very interested in the live video service.
