If you want to make a good impression in a job interview, you shouldn't ask any awkward questions?
An expert vehemently disagrees.
"It's always the courageous – and often uncomfortable – questions that impress me the most." This is the opinion of Atta Tarki, founder and head of the personnel consultancy ECA Partners.
In his ten years of professional experience, he would have noticed again and again
that applicants often do not dare to ask risky - but important - questions
*.
It would be exactly such questions that he would like to hear more often from applicants, he is further
quoted by the
Business Insider portal.
A healthy mixture of interested questions and active listening: everyone finds that pleasant – including the HR manager in the job interview.
But in the job interview it is also important to leave a lasting impression.
Questions that show that you are not afraid of rather unpleasant topics help.
"He seemed very lazy": Answer in the job interview that should make you suspicious
Such a question might be something like, "
Can you give me examples of people who have previously filled this role who were poor choices?"
And why?
“.
On the one hand, this question shows that you have given a lot of thought to the requirements that the new position entails – which should impress every HR manager.
On the other hand, this question can provide a lot of information about the potential new employer.
For example, if the recruiter describes someone who sounds very much like you and your way of working, then this could be a sign that the advertised position is not really a good fit for you.
The answer to the question also provides insightful information about the employer itself.
So it would not be a good sign if HR or the boss spoke badly about the former employee in a conversation.
According to Atta Tarki, answers like "He seemed very lazy" or "I just never knew what he was doing during his working hours" are signals that you should reconsider your choice of future employer.
