In the first quarter of 2022,
Italian GDP
, expressed in chain-linked values with the reference year 2015, adjusted for calendar effects and seasonally adjusted,
decreased by 0.2%
compared to the previous quarter (ending at + 0.7%) and is grew by 5.8% in trend terms.
Istat calculates it on the basis of preliminary estimates for the first three months of the year.
In the Def the government had forecast a decrease of 0.5% on the previous quarter.
The variation acquired in the Italian GDP for 2022 is equal to + 2.2%.
The negative closing of the January-March period therefore led to a slight reduction compared to the growth acquired calculated at the end of 2021, equal to + 2.3%.
The growth acquired is the annual variation that would be obtained in the presence of a zero cyclical variation in the remaining quarters of the year.
Istat has revised upwards the quarterly growth of GDP in the fourth quarter of 2021.
From the + 0.6%
estimated on both January 31st and April 5th, today's data instead indicate
an increase of 0.7%.
