(ANSA) - AOSTA, 29 APR - The Trentino mountaineer Giampaolo Corona is missing on Annapurna, Nepal.
This was reported by the website of The Himalayan Times, an English-language newspaper distributed in Nepal, explaining that yesterday, Thursday, the 49-year-old lost contact with base camp at an altitude of 7,600 meters, while it was descending.
Corona, as in other expeditions, has climbed 8 thousand in alpine style, without supplementary oxygen and exporters.
From base camp they are trying to organize a research mission.
A mountain guide and helicopter rescue technician, Corona has completed several expeditions outside Europe, including another 8,000 in Nepal, Pakistan and India.
