In recent months, the testimonies of young people targeted by sting attacks in nightclubs have multiplied on social networks.

“I felt very intense pain in all my legs and very quickly a desire to sleep that I had never felt”, testifies Rose, under an assumed name.

On April 17, when she celebrated her 33rd birthday in a nightclub in Rennes, the young woman and her best friend say they were victims of a wild bite.

“Around 4 a.m., we were dancing with my friends and I started to feel pain in all my legs and in my buttocks too (…) It was not until the next morning when I woke up that I felt I noticed that I had a big hematoma on my left calf, with a red dot in the center, ”explains the young woman.

Like Rose, there are dozens of young people who claim to have experienced more or less the same misadventure, each time during an evening in a bar or a nightclub.

A strange and disturbing phenomenon that has spread in recent weeks to several other regions.

To date, there are several investigations opened in Rennes, Hérault, Isère, Haute-Garonne, Dordogne and Loire-Atlantique.

In total, around sixty cases have been identified since the beginning of April and around fifty complaints have been filed.

On social networks too, testimonials are pouring in, sometimes with photos showing these stigmata of bites, surrounded by a bruise or redness.

The symptoms described in most testimonials are also strangely similar: “nausea”, “dizziness”, “sharp pain”.

Some suspect the alleged perpetrator(s) of these savage injections of having injected them with GHB, otherwise known as the “date rape drug”.

However, in the majority of cases, no toxicological analysis carried out on the victims revealed the presence of GHB or other toxic substances.

If at this stage, the various investigations are stalling and there is no suspect in sight, concern among young people is growing.

The Ministry of the Interior even broadcast a spot on Twitter intended to inform them of the steps to follow in the event of “wild bites”.
