Ghostbusters star Dan Aykroyd and his wife, US actress Donna Dixon, have split after 39 years of marriage.
Everyone would now go their own way in life, they said in a joint statement to the US celebrity portal »People«.
However, they would remain married to each other and continue to act together as parents and business partners.
"This is our decision in loving friendship," the statement said.
Aykroyd, now 69, and Dixon, who is five years younger, met in 1983 on the set of the joint comedy film »Dr.
Detroit« and got married.
After that, they appeared together several times in front of the camera, including in "The Dark Shadows", "Spies Like Us" and "The Couch Trip".
The couple have three adult daughters.
Dixon had retired from the film business in the 1990s.
