Save energy: With a few simple tricks, you can fight the rising ancillary costs
Based on the tips from the consumer advice centers, the Bild newspaper has created a whole hodgepodge of measures on how to save energy.
We have summarized the biggest saving tricks for you here.
So it can be worth checking the lighting in your own four walls.
Because light bulbs are real power guzzlers in the home.
If these are replaced with LEDs, up to 190 euros can be saved per year.
Efficient ventilation is also important.
The room should not cool down completely.
If, instead, airing is carried out only three times a day and for a maximum of five minutes at a time, an amount of 180 euros can be saved.
Depending on the program, the dishwasher also requires a lot of water and electricity.
The eco-program can mean savings of up to 110 euros a year.
Incidentally, the ecological program also saves up to 55 euros a year on the washing machine, which also has to be fully loaded.
Saving electricity in the home: The most effective tips to waste less energy
The standby mode is also a real power guzzler.
This should be avoided with electronic devices, because electricity is wasted here permanently.
If you plug five devices into a socket strip that can be switched off and thus avoid the standby mode, this can, according to the experts, mean a whopping 100 euros less on the bill per year.
These devices consume the most:
device | Consumption in standby mode (20h/day) | Annual consumption by standby mode |
---|---|---|
stereo system | 15 watts | 120 kilowatts |
TV (LCD) | 14 watts | 112 kilowatts |
Computers, monitors & printers | 10 watts | 80 kilowatts |
Cell Phone Charger | 5 watts | 40 kilowatts |

Lower energy prices: This is how you save money in the bathroom and kitchen
One factor that many consumers may overlook is how much money it costs to wash hands with warm water.
If you do without it, you can save up to 70 euros a year, the experts told the newspaper.
Experts also find a lot of savings potential when it comes to cooking.
Accordingly, water should not be heated in a pot for boiling.
Instead, the kettle is a much cheaper alternative - up to 40 euros less can be on the annual bill.
And if the oven is switched off 10 minutes before the baking time and the residual heat is used for cooking or roasting, that means savings of a whopping 25 euros a year.
All in all, more than 700 euros can be saved annually without consumers having to restrict themselves significantly in everyday life.
