The creation of 600 local hospitals, a priority project for the government muted during the Covid, has resumed since the beginning of the year.
The objective is to streamline the care pathway for French people and relieve emergency room congestion.
Starting from the principle that all hospitals cannot do everything, the idea is to set up a gradation of hospital care according to three levels.
Alongside the large university hospitals - reserved for research, teaching, cutting-edge interventions - and hospitals with surgical and maternity services, local hospitals constitute the first level of access to care, in collaboration with city medicine, especially for patients with chronic pathologies.
