Omar Adam, one of the greatest singers in Israel, will not perform on Independence Day.
As first reported in "Israel Today", Adam was scheduled to perform in Petah Tikva for almost NIS 300,000 for a 45-minute performance.
Following the announcement, a residents' protest began, following which the mayor announced that the show had been canceled.
In the Or Yehuda municipality, too, it was decided to waive the appearance of a person on the eve of the holiday, and so no others were invited.
The discussion around the Independence Day price list for singers is not new.
For the singers, this is a particularly lucrative day during which they earn hundreds of thousands of shekels.
Over the years, quite a bit of criticism has been leveled at artists and mayors who paid particularly high sums for performances.
Adam, as is well known, is considered one of the great singers but the high sums he demands and end up out of the pockets of the citizens and draw criticism.
While all of his colleagues take pride in a variety of appearances, he is left without a single appearance.
