(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 03 - The civilians and Ukrainian forces still inside the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol are subjected to "non-stop" bombing, with food and water supplies that are now running out.
According to the deputy commander of the controversial Azov battalion, Svyatoslav Palamar, according to what CNN reports.
"The attacks continue unabated, with artillery from armed tanks, bursts of fire, and every 3-5 minutes bombing from the skies", explains Palamar, stating that "there are still civilians sheltered in the steel plant, and yet the enemy still continues this bombing".
In addition, stocks are starting to run out.
"I can't say for sure how much is left and for how many days, but I can assure ourselves that we are rationing, with great fear of being left without water and food and especially ammunition," Palamar said, explaining that the regiment is sharing "whatever we have with civilians."
"At worst, if we run out of food, we will hunt the birds and do whatever it takes to resist," he said.
Finally, Palamar states that "at the moment the entire territory of the factory is under our control and our defense is along the perimeter of the steel mill, we are holding the defense".
