(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 03 - Expanding the Sure "to provide the countries that request it with new funding to mitigate the impact of energy price increases".
This is the proposal of Prime Minister Mario Draghi in his speech to the EU Parliament, "a measure to be put in place quickly" to "intervene immediately in support of the economy".
For Draghi, with the extension of Sure, the States could finance "measures to reduce bills, but also temporary support for lower wages, for example with decontribution measures", defending "the purchasing power of families, especially the most fragile, without risking to generate new inflation.
"For long-term investments in areas such as defense, energy, food and industrial security, we take the Next Generation EU as a model," added the premier.
"The system of scheduled payments, linked to punctual checks on the achievement of objectives, offers a virtuous mechanism for controlling the quality of spending. Spending the resources assigned to us well is fundamental for our credibility in front of European citizens and tax yourself to help Italy ".
