(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 03 - "The war in Ukraine places the European Union in front of one of the most serious crises in its history.
A crisis that is both humanitarian, security, energy and economic".
This was stated by Prime Minister Mario Draghi speaking at the plenary of the European Parliament.
With Covid "we approved the Next Generation EU, the first major European reconstruction project, financed with the contribution of all, to meet the needs of each one. The same readiness and determination, the same spirit of solidarity, must guide us in the challenges we face" .
Prime Minister Mario Draghi said this to the European Parliament.
"The European institutions that our predecessors have built over the past decades have served European citizens well, but they are inadequate for the reality we face today."
This was stated by Prime Minister Mario Draghi speaking at the plenary of the European Parliament.
"We need a pragmatic federalism, which embraces all areas affected by the transformations underway: from the economy, to energy, to security. If this requires the beginning of a path that will lead to the revision of the Treaties, it should be embraced with courage and with confidence, "he added.
"We have made the EU a space not only for economics, but for defending human rights and dignity. It is a legacy that we do not want to dissipate".
"Now is the time to take this path forward. The Conference on the Future of Europe ends on 9 May and the Final Declaration asks us to be very ambitious. We want to be at the forefront to design the new Europe. In a geopolitical framework that has suddenly become much more dangerous and uncertain, we must face the economic and social emergency and guarantee the safety of our citizens ".
Thus the premier Mario Draghi in the European Parliament.
