The Senate tightens the siege against the president of the foreign commission Vito Petrocelli.
If he doesn't take the first step to step down from office, most of the commission's senators say they are ready for a mass resignation.
While still this morning Petrocelli perched in his position wrote on social media: "I am not resigning because I feel I represent the Constitution and the will of the Italians" and the 5s group leader Mariolina Castellone reiterated "I will not force it, Casellati will decide", at Palazzo Madama it was outlined what, for now, appears to be the only possible strategy to circumvent all the contrasts created by Petrocelli's pro-Putinian positions that have embarrassed the majority and the M5s: the abandonment by the commissioners.

In recent days, two letters have arrived with the aim of getting out of the swamp, one from the members of the Foreign Affairs Commission and the other from the President of the European Affairs Commission.
The identification of a possible path, however, comes in the afternoon, at the end of a long group leader and a subsequent meeting of the Council of the Regulations.
In order to intervene, they let it be known at the end of the council, concrete facts are needed.
And according to what is learned, there would already be a tacit agreement to ride the resignation of the commission as soon as there are.
So much so that the steps that will lead to the cancellation of the commission and Petrocelli have already been outlined:
once the resignation arrives - for now only Senator Emanuele Dessì of the new parliamentary group Cal is against - the presidents of the groups will have to formalize the intention not to replace them with party colleagues.
At this point, President Casellati and the Council for the regulation would be willing to support the dissolution of the commission itself due to the impossibility of being able to continue to carry out its duties, in such a delicate moment determined by the war in Ukraine.
Immediately afterwards, the reorganization will proceed with the appointment of a new president.
The vice president of the commission, Laura Garavini, has already taken the first step with a resignation letter to her group leader Davide Faraone.
