Ukraine: Michel, impending EU sanctions on Russian oil

(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, MAY 03 - "I am confident that the Council will imminently impose further sanctions" on Russia, "especially on oil".

This was stated by the president of the European Council, Charles Michel, speaking at the inauguration in Alexandroupoli of a new LNG terminal that from the north-east of Greece will help Europe and the Western Balkans to cut dependence on Russian energy.

"Russia's war against Ukraine has already had and will continue to have serious consequences for security in the EU and in the world", added Michel, underlining that the EU's goal "is simple: we must destroy the Russian war machine".
