Five facts to check for drivers.

Drivers have to be careful: a real park classic is actually completely forbidden.

Parking your car can have some pitfalls.

As

echo24.de

has already reported, mistakes can happen when setting the parking disc correctly.

And there are a whole series of statements among drivers that lie somewhere between park fairy tales and traffic truth.

Just turn on the hazard warning lights and park in the second row, because you'll be right back.

If that is a good idea?

The experts from the

General German Automobile Club (ADAC)

have taken a close look at twelve classic parking actions by drivers.

Park fairy tale or true?

Moving and hazard lights

A situation that almost everyone knows: the move is imminent, so you like to put a specially made barrier on the parking spaces in front of the house.

But you see a problem with the ADAC.

In principle, it is not permitted to reserve parking spaces or to block the free space with objects.

This is considered an offence.

It would be better to apply for a parking ban at the road traffic office.

Not a good idea either, turn on the hazard warning lights when parking, get out and think, so everyone can see that you'll be right back.

This park fairy tale can cost money.

According to the law, the hazard warning lights may only be used in dangerous situations.

There may be a fine from the police.

Park your car and go on vacation: you should pay attention to this

Another driver's statement that is listed by the ADAC: "For the time of my vacation I can park my car in a free parking lot without hesitation." Yes and no.

Because there is always the possibility that the parking situation will change during your holiday.

Temporary no-parking zones – removals, construction work – can therefore become a problem.

The Federal Administrative Court ruled in one case:

“Vehicles that were originally parked regularly may be towed from a subsequently set up no-parking zone after a full three days’ notice.

The vehicle owner must bear the corresponding costs of the towing measure

.

Parking and stopping in the second row: Motorists should refrain from doing so

The classic among park fairy tales is probably the right to short-term parking in a second row.

There is a general ban on this.

The law still distinguishes between parking and stopping.

Section 12 paragraph 2 of the StVO states:

"Anyone who leaves their vehicle or stops for more than three minutes parks"

.

Stopping is up to three minutes and is permitted in exceptional cases – unloading heavy goods.

Anyone who parks their car in the second row without authorization must expect a fine of 15 euros.

If he hinders other road users, it is 20 euros.

If you park, you have to dig even deeper into your pocket.

Regarding exceptions, the ADAC states:

"If the traffic situation permits, taxis may stop or park next to other vehicles on the hard shoulder or on the right-hand side of the road to let passengers get on or off"

.

Delivery vehicles need a special permit.

And if you're sure: "If I'm in business for two minutes, that counts as stopping." No.

If you leave your car, park it.

Car bumped into while parking: Now it can get expensive

Also untrue is the belief that it is enough to stick a note with the address under the windshield wiper after a parking bump.

The note could disappear due to external circumstances such as wind or rain.

The ADAC writes that you should always wait for the owner or call the police directly:

"Otherwise it is illegal removal from the scene of the accident.

It's not a misdemeanor, it's a criminal offense

. "

If you don't comply, you commit a hit-and-run.

This threatens drivers with a fine and at least two points in Flensburg and a possible driving ban of at least one month.
