Unfortunately, no longer just pedophilia. Sexual abuse, especially in the digital world, sees more and more minors involved and often victims of their peers or young people.

Unfortunately, no longer just pedophilia. Sexual abuse, especially in the digital world, sees more and more minors involved and often victims of their peers or young people.

This is demonstrated by the 64% increase compared to 2020 in reports on the online presence of CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material) material, with 97% of cases reported relating to female minors.

Compared to 2020, the materials depicting children and adolescents in explicit sexual activities have also almost doubled, while the cases of Pedophilia and Online Sexual Abuse managed by Telefono Azzurro have almost tripled.

From this comes the will of Telefono Azzurro to organize tomorrow, National Day against Pedophilia, the event "I trusted. Sexual abuse can have many faces. Let's talk about it together",

a discussion between industry experts and young people to make the latter increasingly aware of online risks and to provide them with the tools to protect themselves.

The event, which will be held from 9.30 to 12.30 at the ITT C. Colombo in Rome and broadcast in live streaming from the Azzur.it website and from the Ansa website, Skuola.Net and CampuStore, will see the participation of class II A of the Liceo Scientifico "Carlo Pisacane" of Padula (SA), which will present the podcast on the topic of sexting, to raise awareness on the dangers of soliciting online and the risks of the network in general.

After the institutional greetings, among others, Roberto Fico, President of the Chamber of Deputies, Luigi Di Maio, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Elena Bonetti, Minister for Equal Opportunities and the Family,

during the morning the real protagonists of the debate will then be the students of the Colombo institute, who, guided by their teachers, through questions and curiosities, will lead the debate of the speakers present in the room.

A video message from the two influencers Giulia Savulescu and Sebastiano Fighera will also be screened, hosts of the Next Level program, produced by Rai Ragazzi.

"The digital ecosystem is an inclusive and attractive place for the new generations, who can express their opinions and create their own image of themselves. Despite this, the children also report concerns about this incessant technological development, which affects them. in continuous novelties without being fully aware of the risks that these new technologies bring with them, especially those related to sexual abuse and exploitation perpetrated through the Net. According to international data, to date most of the sexually oriented material present on the net and portraying minors is in fact self-produced, a figure on the rise during the pandemic especially with regard to Sexting and Sextortion - declared Ernesto Caffo, President and Founder of Telefono Azzurro - For this reason,Telefono Azzurro considers it essential to talk to the young people and make them participate ".
