Drinking water is good and important for our body, that's a well-known fact.

How do you know that you are drinking too little and what does the urine have to do with it?

Munich – We do it every day – women more than men.

If we drank and ate a lot, often even more.

When we have relieved ourselves in the truest sense, we feel better - going to the toilet is a basic human need.

A person with a healthy bladder empties about six to eight times a day.

The human bladder holds about one liter of urine, the urge to urinate starts at about 300 to 400 milliliters, according to "Apotheken Umschau".

And women have anatomically smaller bladders than men, which explains why women "have to" more often.

Even if most people do not pay close attention to going to the toilet, it is worth taking a look at your own urine.

Are you drinking enough?

Your urine will tell you by the color of it

Your urine reveals a lot about your metabolism, which can vary depending on gender, age and physical condition.

Are the kidneys working well?

Is your blood sugar too high?

Are you pregnant?

Are medications taken?

All factors that affect urine.

It not only provides information about metabolism and possible diseases.

The color of the urine is also significant.

It does not always need the test stick and a laboratory test.

If your urine is very dark yellow on closer inspection, this could mean that you should drink something, preferably water - two to three liters a day is recommended for adults.

Starting the day in the morning with a glass of water stimulates the circulation and has a positive effect on the metabolism and thus the color of the urine.

Other symptoms that indicate you haven't been drinking enough can include headaches, dizziness, tiredness and dry mouth.

Urine test strips: what do the colors mean?

The urine can take on different colors - visible on test strips - from colorless to almost black.

It doesn't always have to be due to an illness.

Sometimes it's because you haven't had enough to drink.

Urine - what the liquid contains and why it is yellow

The kidneys detoxify our blood and filter the nutrients it contains.

The substances that the body does not need are excreted through the bladder and up to two liters of urine per day.

Urine, also called urine, consists of 95 percent water.

If there is too little water in the urine due to insufficient fluid intake - i.e. drinking - it appears darker in colour.

The remaining five percent of the urine contains urea, hormones, salts and dyes.

Urine is yellow because it also contains the bile pigment bilirubin as a breakdown product from the blood.
