The competition between supermarket chains is enormous.

With an advertising poster, Edeka has now made Kaufland look bad.

The scolded company reacts.

Würzburg - Everyone has to go to the supermarket or discounter.

Sooner or later you simply need groceries, drugstore items or other products that can be found on the supermarket shelves.

Therefore, the number of potential customers in Germany is very large.

In the struggle for customers, the supermarket chain Edeka apparently thought that you have to clearly emphasize your own advantages.

The company also wanted to name what the competition supposedly does worse.

With a cheeky advertising poster, Edeka wants to lure supermarket customers into its branches - and unabashedly rails against its competitor Kaufland.

Company Name:

Kaufland

Branches (Germany):

700

Employees (total):

139,000

Edeka advertising poster makes Kaufland look bad – "Kaufland, Edeka is bullying you"

A user posted a photo of the poster on Twitter, which was recently bought by tech billionaire Elon Musk.

The following text can be read on it: “Unfavorable: Look for bargains and employees at Kaufland.

Inexpensive: Edeka now has over 3,000 items at Kaufland prices and many employees who are there for you.” A young woman is shown in the background.

She looks into the distance, her facial expression seems helpless.

There is a shopping basket with Kaufland lettering directly in front of the woman.

For the originator of the tweet, the matter was clear.

"Kaufland, Edeka is bullying you," he wrote.

In fact, this type of advertising isn't exactly the best kind, as some Facebook users saw it too.

Edeka advertising kills Kaufland - customer reacts outraged

A user of the social network also posted a picture of the provocative Edeka advertisement.

"A bit cheeky, your new prospectus," commented the Facebook user.

And resolutely contradicted Edeka's Kaufland bashing: "There are enough, very committed staff at Kaufland.

Those who need to make market competitors and their employees look bad no longer need to expect us as customers.

Pity."

Another Facebook user agreed: "I also find it very inappropriate, Edeka." But there were other opinions.

"Gosh, take it with humor.

Have you forgotten how to laugh because of Corona or what's going on there?” said one user.

Kaufland reacts calmly to Edeka bashing – "It has to be a little fun"

One user didn't see the campaign as dramatically either.

"Edeka hits Kaufland in the pan and when the opportunity arises, Kaufland hits Edeka in the pan," he said.

And referred to the fact that Kaufland also took the matter with the necessary ease.

Another Facebook user drew Kaufland's attention to the Edeka advertising poster directly on their account.

He had seen this while driving a car on the side of a road.

The supermarket chain's social media team reacted confidently.

"It has to be a little fun," Kaufland replied to the user: "Our Monday greeting goes to you and your colleagues from Edeka and of course your attentive eye.

Please drive carefully.” However, Edeka polarized not for the first time – a post about Ferrero recently caused a stir.
