In total, the group, which has five free-to-air channels including TF1, TMC and TFX, will broadcast three of the next six matches of the French team in the 2022 League of Nations. The agreement also provides for the shared broadcasting

“of the 25 most beautiful posters”

of Euro-2024.

TF1 also specifies that it

"will have privileged access to the France team, its players and its coach".

For its part, the M6 group plans to broadcast unencrypted and in full

“half of the matches of the French football team during the 2022-23 Nations League”.

In the event of qualification of the Blues, winners of the 2020-21 edition of the League of Nations, the group plans to broadcast the semi-final of the competition, the final or the small final.

It will also broadcast

“half of the matches in clear”

of the next Euro which will take place from June 14 to July 14, 2024 in Germany.

François Pellissier, deputy director general sport and business of the TF1 group, welcomes in the press release a

"new agreement which extends our historic partnership with the French football team".

Agreement which also translates, according to him,

the "ambition"

of TF1

"to offer in clear and to the greatest number a major exhibition of the best European football

".

Held until March by TF1 and M6, which are in the process of merging, the TV rights of the French football team have struggled to attract a limited market and little inclined to break the bank despite a crowned team at the Coupe du world 2018 and carried by headliners like Karim Benzema or Kylian Mbappé.

The call for tenders for the matches of the 2022/2028 period – excluding World Cups and Euros, sold separately – had been unsuccessful this fall.

The amounts spent for the acquisition of these rights have not been disclosed.
