Transparent and smoke pots: squatting as a protest against the IAA

After a house occupation as a protest against the Munich Auto Show IAA, the district court found five defendants guilty of trespassing.
Among them is a journalist from the daily newspaper taz.
According to the dpa news agency, the man claimed that in September last year he only reported from the building occupied by young climate protection activists.
Nevertheless, like three other defendants, he received a warning with the reservation of punishment.
This means that the 30 daily rates are not due if the convicted person goes unpunished for a year.
A fifth defendant was sentenced to a fine of 40 daily rates because he had already come to light for similar actions.
The parties can appeal or appeal against the judgment of the district court within one week.
The "taz" criticized the judge's verdict.
It sounds "as if the court wanted to be lenient here, but we stick to it: to accompany a squatting journalistically is journalism and not trespassing," emphasized editor-in-chief Ulrike Winkelmann according to the report.
clashes with the police
During the squatting in early autumn, the action group claimed »No Future for IAA« to create an »Open Space for Future« as a counterpoint to the exhibition areas used by the IAA, known as Open Spaces, in the city area.
During the action, there had been clashes between demonstrators and the police.
