Iraqi and Syrian media reports.
The Iraqi government agency Nina cites hospital sources as saying that the majority of hospitalizations were recorded in the western Iraqi regions and in the capital Baghdad.
Images on social networks and local TVs show thick orange clouds obscuring the sky, while eyewitnesses claim that the fine sand has penetrated the cars and homes of the Iraqi regions of Anbar and Salaheddin, and the Syrian ones of Dayr az Zor and Hasake.
Also hit the Iraqi capital Baghdad, the oil city of Kirkuk, north of Baghdad,
Iraqi media say this is the fifth sandstorm since April and that the frequency of these events has increased over the past few years.
