(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 05 - "The war in Ukraine has caused a humanitarian catastrophe. Millions of people, especially women and children, have left the country to seek refuge in the EU".
"We must help Ukraine. Italy has already allocated around 500 million euros to support Ukrainian refugees in our country. I am pleased to announce that we have just increased this amount to over 800 million".
Thus Prime Minister Mario Draghi in connection with the High-Level International Donors' Conference for Ukraine.
The government website reports it.
"Ukraine deserves all the support we can. Italy will continue to play its part", he adds (ANSA).
