The energy flat rate is intended for employees who are subject to income tax; unfortunately, pensioners do not receive anything.
But with a simple trick they also receive the money.
Soon all employees who are subject to income tax – including the self-employed – will receive a flat-rate energy price allowance from the state.
The reason for this is the
sharp rise in costs for electricity, heating, petrol and groceries
.
Citizens should be relieved by the money.
The distribution of the 300 euros gross is planned, probably in September - and without having to fill out any applications for it.
However, retirees will not benefit from the energy allowance because they will not receive any taxable income.
CDU financial expert Antje Tillmann told the BILD newspaper how you can still get the money, even if you are retired.
Energy flat rate: This is how pensioners also get the money
According to Antje Tillmann, you are already entitled to the energy flat rate if you only work one day in 2022.
Working as a mini-jobber is already sufficient, but the financial expert also mentions another possibility: “It is sufficient, for example, for a pensioner to
look after his grandson for an hour in 2022 and receive a minimum wage of 12 euros from his children as part of a mini-job or received from self-employment
.
He then states this income in the tax return and receives the energy price flat rate in May 2023,” explains Tillmann to BILD.
It is therefore not necessary to spend a day helping out in a shop somewhere, for example in a supermarket.
Entitlement to an energy allowance: Retirees require proof of activity
However, the Ministry of Finance points out in the BILD article that
the activity must be proven
.
The recognition of the employment relationship among relatives is only given if "it is seriously agreed and is actually carried out in accordance with the agreement."
A bank statement
with the transferred money should be sufficient.
